jaz.iAllahukhair sis, me too id rather stay anonymous. insh khair. what came to my mind, she said she lost "social status". whats that. so someone must have done something wrong.is there something like that in islam.and even so,normally its a sunnah, or maybe its not even a sunnah, Allahu alam,and its fard to treat wives equally so its absolutely false to have a "first" and "second" wife. no he has 2 or more wives and thats it isnt it!!!no matter "who was first" is that islamic?? la illahaillallah. so isnt it advisable to have a khilafa first, an islamic state, then revive the sunan, specially the "hard" ones which r not allowed in the lands we r in. dont we have to go with their laws since we r guests there. isnt it. so rather tell the muslims to be strong to pull themselves together, and grow a beard and wear proper clothes have proper jobs etc to start with, to be proud, then so on and on. not look like a clean shaven baby then say "im allowed to marry 2, mashaAllah". whats his gain if the women r not prepared at all (im almost sure its not sunnah not to discuss with his wife first), and become wrecks....isnt in that case a divorce better.Allahu alam.
